THANE: The Thane district ranking table tennis tournament that began on June 21 concluded in the city on Thursday. City boy Siddhesh Pande won the top slots in the junior, youth and men's group events. While international medal winner Madhurika Patkar made a mark in the women's category. Over 500 players from across the district, including Navi Mumbai, Kalyan, Dombivli, Ambernath and Badlapur took part in the event.
In the junior and youth category, Siddhesh beat Jas Dalvi 4-1 and won the match. He then went on to win the major title in the men's category by defeating Zubin Taraporewalla. Siddhesh is ranked 5th in the junior national ranking and 8th in the youth category. He is ranked first in state ranking and third among the youth. India's 8th ranked Madhurika defeated junior player Snehal Patil of Ambernath in the women's final.
