A 25-year-old labourer was killed and another person had got injured when a slab fell on them at a metro site under-construction in west Delhi today .
The incident occurred at around 9:45 am at under construction Dashrathpuri Metro Station (Janakpuri West – Kalindi Kunj corridor) when the segment of a temporary tunnel ring fell on the labourer during its dismantling.
Vijay Kumar, aged 26, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Bhagat Chandra hospital, where he was declared dead.
Police have blamed a private construction company to which the work was outsourced by the DMRC of negligence.
The company has been booked for causing death by negligence and of negligence in respect to pulling down or repairing a building. Further investigation is in process.
"The Chief Project Manager of the corridor is investigating the incident. The contractor for this section is M/s HCC-Samsung," said a DMRc.
